A ranger makes regular rounds of the park and the gates close at 10PM, so the park feels safe. Barton Springs Pool is one of the crown jewels of Zilker Park’s 358 acres. The pool itself measures three acres and is fed by underground springs with an average temperature of 68-70 degrees, making it ideal for swimming all year round. Barton Springs Pool has drawn individuals from varying backgrounds over the years, from administrators who have created state regulations there to unique, topless sunbathers who blew some people’s minds during the 1970s. Robert Redford figured out how to swim at the pool when he was five years of age while seeing family in Austin. Today, Barton Springs actually draws in a different horde of individuals and has seen unprecedented quantities of guests approaching 800,000 lately.
